Green-Schools is an educational programme designed to raise students awareness of environmental issues through classroom study. The scheme offers a way to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day-to-day running of the school, for example reduce litter, waste and fuel bills. This process helps students to recognize the importance of environmental issues and take them more seriously in their personal and home lives.
A Green School committee is elected every two years in our school to undertake a specific environmental theme. Holy Spirit Senior Primary School has received awards for the work they have carried out under the following themes: • Litter and waste • Energy • Water • Travel Presently, we are working on the biodiversity theme while keeping up the standards set on the above themes.
