Communications and Learning Platforms
The staff of Holy Spirit Senior Primary School have decided to employ the following communications and learning platforms - Google Suite for Education and Class Dojo. These platforms were chosen as they best suit the needs and context of our school. As per Circular 0074/2020, the platforms we have chosen will facilitate:
- communication with and between staff, with parents/guardians, and Board of Management meetings
- communication and engagement between teachers and pupils/students (including classroom work assignment and returns, feedback and assessment)
- remote learning in the event of a partial or full school closure. The platforms will facilitate some use of live or recorded video lessons where practicable (pages 1 and 2 of Circular 0074/2020)
Google Suite for Education
When a student is enrolled in Holy Spirit Senior Primary School, they are given a Google account with an @holyspiritsps.ie log in and password. This enables each student to log in to our Chromebooks and access a range of educational tools such as (but not limited to) Google Slides, Google Docs, Google Classroom and Google Drive. Student Google accounts also enable children to access educational tools such as Book Creator and Adobe Spark which encourage creativity and collaboration in the classroom. Teachers can share information with pupils and their families via Class Dojo. This includes photos or videos of class activities or simply some class news. Homework is also communicated via Class Dojo. Students can also upload their own work to their individual portfolios on Class Dojo. Staff members will not respond to messages on Class Dojo, but will be available at their school email addresses. For more information about this, click here.
