Green-Schools is an educational programme designed to raise students awareness of environmental issues through classroom study. The scheme offers a way to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day-to-day running of the school, for example reduce litter, waste and fuel bills. This process helps students to recognize the importance of environmental issues and take them more seriously in their personal and home lives.
A Green Team has been elected in our school and they are working conscientiously to promote a sustainable environment. Holy Spirit Senior Primary School has received awards for the work they have carried out under the following themes: • Litter and waste • Energy • Water • Travel Presently, we are working on the biodiversity theme while keeping up the standards set on the above themes.
Our Green Team are very busy this year. Firstly, they are participating in the Re-Turn scheme and by doing so are both reminding people of the importance of recycling their bottles and cans while also raising funds for the school.

As well as that, our Green Team have given up their lunch time to pick up litter from outside the school and church grounds. They are a fantastic group of children who are passionate about the environment and are wonderful role models.
