Correspondence Regarding Reopening Holy Spirit Senior Primary School - September 2021

Dear Parents/ Guardians

I hope you and your families had a lovely summer. It is great that most of us got to enjoy a little more normality over the summer as the reopening of society continued. We hope to be able to make this school year more like pre-Covid years but for now we will have to remain cautious. Many of our pupils and staff live in households with people who are still very vulnerable to Covid so we must be mindful of this and act accordingly. We will try to create a school environment that is safe but minimises the impact of restrictions on pupil's learning, their wellbeing and their enjoyment of school. I know we are at a stage of the pandemic where different people have very different views on restrictions but I would ask you to please follow the guidelines below to prevent class or whole school closures and keep our school community safe. I have included our Covid Procedures For Parents below and they will be updated throughout the year.
We are all greatly looking forward to reopening on Wednesday!
Kind Regards,
Paddy Dillon
Holy Spirit Covid Procedures For Parents and Guardians - September 2021

Children should arrive on time.

6th class 8:50am 5th class 8:50am
4th class 9am 3rd class 9am

Children should arrive as close to these times as possible. Pupils should not arrive more than 2/3 minutes before their time.

Children should wear their bib every day (Bibs will be given out on the first day)

Parents can drop pupils at school entrance and then leave the area around the school. Pupils wait outside gate until year group is called then line up in class bubbles inside entrance. Class group will then be sent to lines close to school reception.

At collection time pupils will line up with their class at their class’s cone.

Parents will wait in the grass area. Children walk over to parents in the waiting area and then leave promptly through the driveway.

All communication with school staff will be by phone or email.

We would ask that parents don’t approach school staff .

Please stay social distanced from all other people outside your household bubble.

Spend as little time on school grounds as possible.

Do not bring dogs into the school grounds

Everyone on the school grounds must wear a mask at all times

Covid Symptoms

If children report or displays any Covid symptoms to staff we will contact parents/guardians and ask them to collect the child as soon as possible. It is vital that we have up to date contact numbers and there is always a person available to collect children with symptoms.

We would ask parents and guardians to keep pupils who are collected due to having Covid symptoms out of school for 48 hours. However, we do understand that there are occasionally times when parents have more information on these symptoms and if this is the case please outline the details in an email to hello@holyspiritsps.ie before 5pm on the day before your child returns to school.

Last year late collection of pupils who were going home due to symptoms lead to a huge disruption to learning in our school as these pupils had to be supervised in isolation by staff for long periods. This meant staff were prevented from working with pupils who rely on them for their education.

If your child has any of the Covid symptoms listed below please keep them at home. If the symptoms persist contact your GP.
