Gaelic Football for Girls

Every year we enter a 6th class team in the Cumann na mBunscol competition. The girls really enjoy the competition and love travelling to different parts of Dublin to play other schools. Matches are on Wednesdays after school from September to December. We often play challenge games against local schools and we also take part in football competitions organised by our local club Robert Emmet’s.
Training has begun with the present 5th classes to prepare for the 2016/ 2017 competition. Training takes place on Tuesdays from 2.40- 3.30 on the secondary school pitch with Ms. Daly and Ms. Lacey. We encourage all children to join the team regardless of previous experience.

Gaelic Football for Boys

We will enter our first boys’ team in the Cumann na mBunscol competition for 2016/ 2017. Boys from 4th, 5th and 6th classes will make up the team. Training has begun and takes place on Tuesdays from 2.40- 3.30 on the secondary school pitch with Mr. Murphy, Mr Walshe and Ciarán Taaffe. We encourage all children to join the team regardless of previous experience.

Gaelic Football Coaching

Paul, a coach from Robert Emmet’s visits our school every Wednesday. Every class gets the opportunity to go to Gaelic football training with Thomas for blocks during the year. The children really enjoy this and we thank Thomas for all his hard work.

Robert Emmet’s

Robert Emmet’s is our local club and we have enjoyed a great relationship with the club for many years. We encourage all children to join the club or their local club if living outside the Greenhills area. The club often organise fun days for the children and kindly allow us to use their pitch at the Eight Acres for home games.

Swimming

Every child in the school has the opportunity to attend swimming lessons for 6 weeks with their class in Templeogue Swimming Pool as part of the Aquatics strand in the PE curriculum. The children really enjoy going swimming with their class while also learning an extremely important life skill.
